And you, Gene Marks of If I Were A Poor Black Kid fame, can drink a lukewarm cup of STFU. I'm not even going to heat it up for you.

And I bet you'd like it with milk. True facts, growing up, I didn't know milk came in jugs... OK, I knew, but in my house milk came in a box.  A cardboard box of dried up milk flakes... MMM, tasty.

It takes more than a dream and the drive to win to be a success; it takes a helping hand. All the determination in the world will get you nowhere if you don't have someone there willing to support you.

Luckily, there were people willing to fight for me. People who didn't just say that I should read more books. That I should just work harder. That I should take advantage of the opportunities presented to me... Because there are no opportunities for kids in the projects unless someone who cares creates them.

So Gene Marks, I would love to hear about the opportunities you are creating for all the poor black kids out there. You know, the opportunities they are ignoring... And I'm sure there's going to be a line at the library next week just to read your latest article...
